The 10th Traditional Authority Chakhadza of Dowa District has been installed Senior Chief on 1 November 2023 after President Dr Lazarus Chakwera elevated him in August.
Senior Chief Chakhadza’s area is one of the largest areas in Dowa District with two Sub Traditional Authorities and 107 Group Village Heads.
The elevation has brought the number of Senior Chiefs in Dowa District to four (4)
Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda, said with the growing population in Malawian communities there is a need to have more Senior Chiefs to represent people at council level.
