Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard Chimbanga is reportedly receiving threats from unknown people.
Chimbanga has confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page.
“Friends in the past couple of weeks I have been receiving threats relating to my freedom expression and association. We are well aware of the challenging times we are living in where the democratic space is shrinking.
“The threats have escalated which has moved me to report to the Soche Police yesterday. What is unfortunate is that some of the harassment is being led by senior Police personnel. Telling me to stop talking ,move houses, change phones even vehicles as I am on the Malawi intelligence radar. So if anything ever happens to me or my family you will be in a position to follow through of what transpired. I will not STOP,” wrote Chimbanga.
Meanwhile, it is not yet known as to who is threatening Chimbanga and for what reasons.
