Man Nabbed For Crushing Road Enforcement Stones Into Quarry In Dowa

Police in Dowa district have arrested a 36-year-old man Wallace Mzungu for allegedly vandalizing road enforcement stones in the district.
According to Spokesperson for Dowa Police Sergeant Alice Sitima, the incident occurred on Thursday November 09, 2023 at around 5pm at Zangala Village, along the Lilongwe-Salima M14 road.
It is reported that a well-wisher tipped Mvera Police officers that Mzungu had been removing road enforcement stones and crushing them into quarry for sale.
Police officers visited the scene and confirmed that the incident had happened.
Investigations were instituted leading to the arrest of the suspect, who is believed to have been committing the crime since 2017.
Police have since notified National Roads Authority to visit the scene and conduct assessment of the damaged property.
The suspect will soon appear in court to answer the charge of malicious damage.
Wallace Mzungu hails from Zangala Village Traditional Authority Chiwere, Dowa district.
