A Freightliner truck has blocked the Chikangawa – Jenda M1 road near Mzimba bridge in the district.
Spokesperson for Mzimba Police Station Patrick Botha has confirmed the development saying that the truck registration number MH 3011/KU 8535 got stuck today while carrying wooden planks.
Botha has has since urged all trucks driving from Mzuzu heading Lilongwe to use the Raiply – Mzimba M22 road, joining the M1 road at Mzimba Junction.
All trucks from Lilongwe direction, heading to Mzuzu are advised to take Mzimba Junction – Mzimba boma M9 road joining the M1 road at Raiply.
For small and light vehicles there is a diversion near the scene.
“Efforts are underway to clear the road”, said Botha.
