Archbishop Tambala Announces Consecration Date for Bishop Vincent Mwakhwawa


Archbishop George Desmond Tambala, head of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe, has revealed that the consecration ceremony for the newly-appointed Auxiliary Bishop Vincent Mwakhwawa is scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2024.

The event will take place at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, commencing at 9:30 am. In a released statement, Archbishop Tambala urged the Archdiocesan Liturgical Committee and the celebrations committee to initiate preparations for the momentous occasion.

Pope Francis officially appointed Fr. Mwakhwawa as the Auxiliary Bishop of Lilongwe Archdiocese, and the announcement was made in Vatican City on November 15, 2023.

The consecration holds significant importance for the Catholic community in Lilongwe and beyond.
