MRA boss Alinafe Bonongwe’s murderers handed 21 years jail sentence

Dedza First Grade Magistrate Court has sentenced three people to 21 years jail sentence each for allegedly robbing former Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) manager for Dedza Customs and Excise Border Station Alinafe Bonongwe before killing him.

The three are Gerald Maiza, 21, Tangoyang’ana Kadango, 21 and Samson Mkhalapadzuwa aged 23.

The court heard that the three robbed Bonongwe money amounting to MK3.2 million, laptop, shoes and clothes after killing him.

While 49 year old woman identified as Lydia Kadango has been handed 30 months jail sentence for receiving stolen money.

The three are currently answering murder charges.

Bonongwe, 43, of Kapanga Village Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota, passed away on Friday 4th February, 2022 as he was found dead in his house’s bathroom in Dedza
.
At the time of his death, late Bonongwe was Manager for Dedza Customs and Exercise Border Station.
