In Kasungu district, a tragic road accident claimed the life of 50-year-old Willard Banda.
The incident, reported by Kasungu Police deputy publicist Miracle Mkozi, occurred around 4 am yesterday at Mthembwe village along the Mchinji-Kasungu M18 road.
At the time of the accident, Banda was driving a Fuso fighter lorry with registration number KU 4983, traveling alone from Mchinji to Kasungu.
Unfortunately, he lost control of the vehicle due to speeding upon reaching Mthembwe village, veering off the road’s extreme offside dirty verge and colliding with trees before coming to a halt.
Banda, a resident of Sinde Village in Traditional Authority Chidzuma, Kasungu, suffered left rib fractures and internal bleeding.
Despite being rushed to Santhe Health Center for treatment, he tragically succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
