Lightening strikes 3 pupils and a teacher, one dies

In Mzuzu on November 30, 2023, lightening has killed one pupil and injured three at Msipazi primary school in Mchengautuwa within Mzuzu city at around 12:00hours

The four have been identified as Promise Kaira 14,(deceased) Agness Mkwinika 14, Thandie Nyirenda 14 and Tina Chisi (teacher)

The deceased and other two pupils were escorting their teacher at her house while it was raining, upon reaching the house the rains accompanied by thunderstorm and lighting increased and lightening struck the four.

Some pupils noticed some smoke coming from the teacher’s house and rushed to the place where they found the four down and unconscious.

Well wishers took them to Mzuzu Central Hospital where Promise was pronounced dead upon arrival and the other three admitted.

Condition of the three is now fair and the dead body is at Mzuzu central mortuary pending postmortem.

Promise Kaira hailed from Nyankhetha Village Traditional Authority Kampingo Sibande in Mzimba.
