Spokesperson of former President Peter Mutharika, Shadreck Namalomba has disowned a media briefing conducted by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) estranged Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey.
Jeffrey wa Jeffrey held a media briefing in Lilongwe where she disclosed that the party’s National Governing Council (NGC) will meet on December 6, 2023 to discuss preparations for a convention.
She said the NGC meeting will, among other things, choose a committee that will run the convention.
Jeffrey further said she has been in touch with the party ‘s president Peter Mutharika about the move.
Reacting to the development Namalomba who is also DPP spokesperson urged Malawians to ignore Jeffrey wa Jeffrey’s statement.
Namalomba said the statement from Jeffrey lacked substance.
He further said that Jeffrey wa Jeffrey’s address was directed to President Dr. President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and not Mutharika.
Meanwhile, it is yet to be seen if DPP will comply with the court order on convention.
