Libertas General Insurance Crowned Champions Of IIM Quiz Competition

Libertas General Insurance Company has been crowned champions of the 2023 MK7 million Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) Quiz Competition sponsored by Old Mutual Malawi Limited.

For Libertas General Insurance to be crowned Champions the team outclassed General Alliance with 12.5 points against 11.5 points in the finals.

As Champions Libertas went away with money amounting to MK900, 000 and a trophy while General Alliance who finished as runners up went away with MK600,000 and a trophy.

United General Insurance (UGI) finished third and went away with MK480,000.00 and a trophy.

Speaking in an interview with the press after competition Old Mutual Group Human Capital Executive Rex Kadzongwe hailed IIM for holding a success competition.

He also hailed Libertas General Insurance for emerging as champions of the IIM quiz competition.

Kadzongwe then assured IIM that Old Mutual will continue sponsoring the competition which is aimed sharing knowledge among Insurance players in the country.

“As Old Mutual we are promising you that next year we are coming back to sponsor the quiz competition and I can assure you that the sponsorship will be more than this considering the recent devaluation of the kwacha,” said Kazongwe while attracting ululation from the audience.

On his part IIM President Hastings Kapesa hailed Old Mutual for the sponsorship and he also applauded Libertas General Alliance for emerging victorious.

A total of 12 teams namely; General Insurance, Old Mutual Life, Prime Insurance, Reunion, Britam, Rhino Insurance, Nico General, CIC, UGI, Old Mutual Pension, Libertas and NICO Life took part in the competition which commenced on December 14, 2023.

This year’s quiz competition was held under the theme: ‘Building Resilience Through Insurance in Times of Economic Turbulence.’
