Chazama arrives at DPP disciplinary hearing

Former Director of Women in the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Cecilia Chazama has arrived at the venue of her disciplinary hearing at Golden Peacock Hotel in the capital Lilongwe.

In the morning, Member of Parliament for Zomba Chisi Mark Botomani also appeared before the committee which is led by former Minister of Gender Jean Kalilani.

Other members who are expected to appear before the same committee include; former secretary general Grezelder Jeffrey, former vice-president for the Southern Region Kondwani Nankhumwa.

The four are accused of attending and leading a December 6, 2023 national governing council (NGC) meeting which had no authorisation from party president Peter Mutharika.

  1. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this story and hoping for updates on the proceedings and any decisions made. Transparency and accountability are crucial within political parties, so hopefully, this hearing sheds light on any internal conflicts and leads to positive outcomes for the DPP and Malawian politics as a whole.
