DPP drops a case against three people suspected of blocking Chakwera’s convoy

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Masauko Chamkakala has discontinued a case in which three people from Ndirande were answering charges relating to blocking a presidential convoy at HHI in Blantyre.

Chamkakala confirmed the development in an interview with the press.

The three, Pearson Chimimba, 48, Hector Ndawala, 38, and Lucy Namba, 35, were arrested on Monday and Tuesday respectively following a commotion involving a funeral procession from Ndirande and traffic police officers clearing the road for the presidential convoy at HHI.

The president was on his way to Chileka to board a plane to the Democratic Republic of Congo DRC.
