DPP MP Mary Navicha appointed as leader of opposition

Information reaching this publication indicates Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Thyolo Thava constituency Mary Thom Navicha has been appointed as leader of opposition (LoP).

Navicha’a appointment comes amid infighting in the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regarding the position of leader of opposition in Parliament between Member of Parliament for Mulanje Central Kondwani Nankhumwa and Dr. George Chaponda.

The opposition DPP has confirmed of the development in a short statement posted on its official facebook page seen by this publication.

“Congratulations are in order to our Director of Women (National), Honourable Mary Thom Navicha MP for Thyolo Thava on her appointment as Leader of Opposition in Parliament,” reads part of the statement.
