Lilongwe Police Arrest Suspect for Selling Live Pangolin

Police in Lilongwe have arrested Gevinala Makanda for being found in possession of and offering to sell a live pangolin at Likuni Boys Secondary School grounds.

According to Lilongwe police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu, Makanda, aged 47, was arrested yesterday (Monday) at Chinsapo.

Chigalu said the police have also arrested two other men for offering to sell ivory at 6 miles in the same district.

The police followed a tip from well-wishers who informed them that Alick Akimu, aged 56, and Rebson Makunda, aged 42, were selling the said illegal commodities.

All suspects will appear before court soon.
