Police in Mulanje have arrested 36-year-old Kondwani Changamuka for allegedly sodomising his son, aged 11, at Gulumba village in the area of Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje.
Spokesperson for Mulanje Police, Sergeant Innocent Moses told the press that Changamuka and his wife, who is the son’s mother, divorced sometime back, and the son stays with his mother.
He said on February 29, 2024, the boy went to the video show at the Nkhonya trading centre, he failed to get back home as it was late and decided to sleep at his father’s house.
“While sleeping, the father started caressing him and later forced his manhood into his anus. He tried to shout for help, but the father threatened him until he finished his act,” said Moses.
Sergeant Moses said the boy was taken to Mulanje District Hospital for both examinations and treatment, and police later arrested Changamuka and charged him with the case of Sodomy, which is contrary to Section 160B of the Laws of Malawi.
