Former Minister of Gender Patricia Kaliati has said that the agreement between Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) on who will be the torchbearer in 2025 polls is still intact.
According to UTM Secretary General Patricia Kaliati, the two parties agreed that each leader (Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and Dr. Saulos Chilima) has 5 years to rule this country.
Kaliati said the agreement of the two was also approved by some leaders involved.
According to Kaliati, Chilima is scheduled to represent the Tonse Alliance on the ballot in the forthcoming 2025 polls.
Kaliati’s remarks follows a stand by MCP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to endorse Chakwera as the party’s torchbearer in the forthcoming polls.
