This morning, the court in Lilongwe is continuing to hear testimony from witnesses in the case of Allan Witika, who was murdered last year.
Today, Pathologist Dr. Andrew Mwale told the court that Witika’s death occurred on September 20, 2023, and an autopsy was conducted in the presence of police, Witika’s relatives, and clinical officers from Kamuzu Central Hospital.
Mwale stated that the purpose of the autopsy was to establish the cause and manner of death, revealing that Witika died from severe traumatic brain injuries with a completely crushed head and skull caused by a gunshot wound.
Yesterday, the second witness, crime investigator Bauleni Mthinda from the National Police Headquarters, informed the court that murder suspect Lester Maganga did not surrender himself to the law enforcers’ headquarters when asked to do so.
Maganga was arrested at Area 43 Filling Station by police, where they found a rifle, which was not licensed, in the suspect’s vehicle (a red Toyota Rav 4) on the material day.
He was taken to Lingadzi Police Station for further questioning, and was found in possession of two blank bullets and one live ammunition.
