Copperbelt University Student raped by her friend’s colleague at a hotel in Zambia

A COPPERBELT University (CBU) student has allegedly been raped by her friend’s colleague at a named hotel after a drink out.

The victim who will be identified as ND reported to police that she was taken advantage of after a few drinks by someone she can identify if seen.

“Facts of the matter are that on 22/3/24 at around 19:00hrs, the victim [name withheld] left the campus and went to see a male friend who stay outside Campus in Nkana East,upon reaching there, she found that the same friend was with another male friend and that is how they started drinking beer” Copperbelt Province police commissioner Peacewell Mweemba said.

He said in the process of their drinking, the suspect started proposing her but she refused and continued drinking until she got drunk.

“The same man decided to drop her at school leaving his friend which she accepted, but instead of driving her to school,he took her at Garden court in one of the room where he had sex with her, though under the influence of alcohol , she felt pain and started screaming.

“Then later she was brought at campus by the same man, she explained to her friends what happened who advised her that she should visit the clinic where upon explaining she was also advised to report the matter at the police station,” Mr Mweemba said.

He said a docket has been opened but no arrest have been made.
