The tragic Mchinji road accident that occurred yesterday has seen the total number of deaths rise from three to four, according to Mchinji police publicist Limbani Mpinganjira.
The additional fatality occurred at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.
The accident took place at Chikhutu village along the Lilongwe-Mchinji M12 road while a group of 13 individuals were en route to Namitete in Lilongwe to attend a funeral ceremony for their relative.
Driver Christopher Siliya, who sustained injuries in the accident, attributed the incident to a burst rear tire that caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
Other casualties have been admitted to Mchinji district hospital for treatment.
