Yesterday, a 50-year-old guard was killed at Taba Mosque in Nkhotakota district, prompting a manhunt by the police for the assailants.
Today, Paul Malimwe, Spokesperson for Nkhotakota Police Station, disclosed that the victim, Yakido Mkumba, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Nkhotakota District Hospital.
Malimwe mentioned that the perpetrators also made away with property valued at K210,000.
“Sheikh Osman Azizi discovered Mkumba in a pool of blood during morning prayers and promptly alerted authorities,” stated Malimwe during an interview.
Yakido Mkumba hailed from Chikuse village in the Dedza district, as confirmed by the Nkhotakota Police Station Spokesperson.
