The Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has condemned the brutal murder of 50-year-old, Yakido Mkumba, a man who was working as a watchman at Taba Masjid in Nkhotakota district.
Mkumba was killed by unknown thugs while on duty in the wee hours of Monday.
Speaking in an interview with the press MAM Spokesperson, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, said the religious body, which has since issued a statement expressing shock over the matter, wants justice to prevail.
“We would like to condemn this type of behavior that it is taking us backwards as Malawians because it is instilling fear in the minds of people. The culprits should be held accountable and the law should take its course”, he said.
Police say they have since instituted an investigation to arrest the assailants who also went away with property valued at 210,000.00 kwacha.
