Chaponda breaks silence after his appointment as leader of opposition

Member of Parliament for Mulanje Dr. George Chaponda has hailed Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) President Peter Mutharika for trusting him to lead the party in Parliament.

Mutharika has appointed Chaponda as leader of opposition in Parliament following the vacation of the court injunction that Kondwani Nankhumwa on the post yesterday.

Chaponda wrote on his official Facebook page: “Thanks to Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and the Democratic Progressive Party – DPP for the trust.”

The leader of opposition post caused chaos in the opposition DPP as the other camp of the party boycotted Parliament proceedings recently.

This happened after the speaker recognized Nankhumwa and not Mary Navicha who was appointed by the Party.
