The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has appointed former Minister of Agriculture Dr. George Chaponda as leader of opposition in Parliament.
Chaponda’s appointment follows the resignation of Kondwani Nankhumwa who has formed his own political party named Peoples Development Party (PDP).
DPP spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication, saying the appointment is with immediate effect.
Namalomba has also said that the party has appointed Lonnie Chijere Chirwa as Commissioner in Parliament.
