FAM SAYS RISING WATER LEVELS IN LAKE MALAWI AFFECTS 2024 HTD BEACH SOCCER PREPARATIONS

As the 2024 HTD Beach Soccer National Championship is expected to begin this weekend at Sunbird Nkopola Beach in Mangochi, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has acknowledged that rising water levels have significantly impacted the preparations for teams.

FAM’S Marketing manager, Tulipo Mwenelupembe , said they have invested a lot to ensure that the tournament is unique.

Mwenelupembe added that the 2023 champions, Beach Eagles, are in Group A with Vinthenga and Noil, while Group B consists of Deep Bay, Sunbird Nkopola, and Tourism.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.

However, Mangaliso Mwanza, HTD Limited’s Sales Executive, highlighted the company’s strong commitment to supporting beach soccer, emphasising its positive impacts in Malawi.

Originally planned to take place in Karonga, the tournament was relocated to Mangochi due to the rising water levels.
