Malawian Gospel RnB sensational female artist Theresa Phondo, has kept up her music walk thriving with a latest release of an upbeat pop and praise song titled ‘Yewo’.

The fomer Zathu Band’s Member, released thesong in a double project in audio and video, ‘Yewo’ which in Tumbuka language means ‘Thank you’, is Theresa’s second release of 2024.

This follows up on the success of her chart topping single ‘Testimony’ which earned her playlist placement on Spotify’s African Gospel Hits and Radar Africa editorial playlists reaching over 170,000 listeners.

In the latest song, Theresa is expressing gratitude and devotion to God.

“I am acknowledging God as a provider and ultimate being who is worthy of all praise. His creation, protection, love and the sacrifice on Calvary are more than enough to be grateful for, so yewo”, she says.

Continuing her borderless approach to music, Theresa collaborates across Africa to reach listeners across the pond.

With audio production by Nigerian producer Jostopac and visual production by South Africa’s Da Mos, the singer says ‘Yewo’ aims to raise the bar with quality and excellence.

Having garnered 108,000 listeners on Spotify, making her the second most streamed artist in Malawi, Theresa, who was recently honored as one of the 100 most inspiring women in Malawi by Wealth magazine, is grateful to God for this feat.

With no album yet, she has a number of songs on the market including ‘Blessings’ which has also made reaps including being featured by celebrities such as Megan Good.

She says people can access the new song in all streaming platforms.

Phondo is the only Malawian artist who is followed by Nigeria Afrobeat star Davido.
