A 32-year-old man, Boast Chihama has hanged himself with a rope to a Mango tree at Naviziba location in the area of Senior Chief Mwabulambya in Chitipa district.
It is reported that Chihama left home for a market day at Lufita on Wednesday 4 September, 2024, and he didn’t return home until the early hours of Thursday, 5 September, 2024 when his lifeless body was discovered hanging in a mango tree some meters away from his house by his grandfather around 0600hrs, who then called and reported the matter to Chitipa Police Station.
Police officers from Chitipa Police Station and a medical practitioner from Chitipa District Hospital visited the scene where postmortem was conducted that revealed that death was due to suffocation.
The reason for taking his own dear life is not yet known.
Meanwhile, police in the district are urging people especially men, to always seek advice from friends, local leaders or other authorities such as visiting the Victim Support Unit for counseling and psycho-social support whenever they meet challenges, rather than eliminating their own dear lives.
Boast Chihama hailed from Chimera village in the area of Senior Chief Mwaulambia in Chitipa district.
He has left a wife and a three month old child.
