Man netted for burglary in Mzimba

Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested Chawezi Jere 29, on suspicion that he broke into the house of Ephraim Mtatembo, a primary school teacher at Katete Boys and went away with two Laptops and D-Jack home theatre during the night of September 6, 2024 at Champhira.

Chawezi’s arrest in the evening of September 7, 2024, follows thorough investigations carried out by Police detectives who learnt that the suspect was trying to offer for sale a Laptop at a certain video show but failed to put in the password and the buyer became suspicious.

Jenda Police detectives who were close by, acted promptly on the information and arrested the suspect, upon questioning he revealed to have broken into the house of Ephraim Matembo where he took two Laptops and a D-Jack home theatre, he further broken into the house of Josephine Nyirenda where he took a Samsung Plasma screen (32 inch). All the recovered items are valued at MK 940, 000.

Meanwhile all the items have been positively identified by crime victims.

Chawezi has been charged with burglary and theft which are contrary to sections 309 sub section 2 and 271 respectively, of the Penal Code.

Chawezi who hails from Songiso Village, Traditional Authority Mzikubola in Mzimba district, will appear before court upon completion of paper work to answer his charges.
