A 32-year-old man from Nkutu Village, under Traditional Authority Kaphuka in Dedza District, has committed suicide by takinga a pesticide known as “chi m’bulu.”

The man, who worked as a photographer, reportedly took on a large project photographing over 1,000 individuals seeking loan applications with the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF), each of whom paid a fee of K2,500 for the service.

According to a close friend, the photographer collected over 2 million kwacha from the job but was unable to deliver the photographs to his clients.

Facing increasing pressure from his clients demanding their photos, the man reportedly took his own life while drinking at a local bar.

He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
