Police officers on Thursday evening engaged in running battles with students from Chiradzulu Secondary School who were on rampage damaging school properties.

This followed speculations that authorities at the school are contemplating to adjust upwards tuition fees.

During the fracas, the angry learners set ablaze the school library, destroying books worth millions.

Police moved in to fire teargas to disperse the angry students who in retaliation started pelting stones at the law enforcers.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that some students have been arrested.
