Experts have hailed President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s appointment of Vitumbiko Mumba as Minister of Labour, saying this shows the President has trust in the youths.

In an interview with governance advocate Undule Mwakasungula, Mumba’s appointment is an encouraging development for Malawians and his technical expertise is suited to create opportunities for young people.

“This shows the President’s commitment to empowering young Malawians, his inclusion offers hope to young Malawians,” he said.

Meanwhile, political expert Edgar Mkanda said appointing a youthful minister means the President understands the needs of the youth.

“When we talk about labour, we talk about the youths, and appointing a youth minister shows the President understands what is needed,” he said.

President Chakwera yesterday appointed Vitumbiko Mumba as Minister of Labour.

Mumba replaces Agness Nyalonje who resigned recently.
