According to Nsanje Police spokesperson Agnes Zalakoma, the 51-year-old farmer, who lived alone, kept livestock including goats, chickens, and guinea fowls. He was known to sleep in the same house with his animals for security reasons.
The incident came to light when Sauti’s sister, returning from the fields around 1 PM, heard the loud cries of a goat. Sensing trouble, she rushed to his house and discovered his lifeless body.
Initial police investigations revealed that the attackers broke through the wall of the house to gain entry. A postmortem confirmed that Sauti died from strangulation. It is suspected that the perpetrators killed him and stole some of his livestock.
“We are currently conducting thorough investigations to track down and arrest those responsible for this heinous act,” said Zalakoma.
The incident has left the local community in shock, with many calling for swift justice to prevent further attack
