FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has announced a new one-and-a-half-year contract of  their midfielder Mike Mkwate extending his stay with the club beyond the expiry of his current deal, which was set to end in March.

Face of Malawi has seen the announcement on Team’s official website today on 21 January 2025.

Mkwate, who rejoined the People’s Team in 2023 after a spell with South Africa’s Polokwane City, faced a significant setback when he suffered a long-term injury just three months into his return. Despite being sidelined for nearly two years, the 26-year-old has earned a new deal and is eager to make a strong comeback.

Speaking about his new contract, Mkwate said, “As a player, I’m delighted that Bullets has offered me a new contract to extend my stay at the club, considering that I have been out for two years after suffering a long-term injury, and I thank God for this favor. Football being my career, it hasn’t been easy to be on the sidelines for two years. But I’m happy that I’m finally back. That injury was just a small setback in my career. I am confident that I am the same player, injury-free now, and I will resume preparations for the new season with the rest of the squad.”

The technical staff at Bullets also expressed their belief in Mkwate’s potential, praising his vision, attitude, and work ethic. A team representative commented, “Mike is one of the best number 10s in the country. It’s unfortunate that he was out for a long time due to injury, but we believe he will bring immense value to the team. He is a player who thrives under challenges, and we are confident Bullets can get the best out of him this season.”

With his new contract in place, Mkwate is set to resume training and join his teammates as they prepare for the upcoming season. Fans of the People’s Team will undoubtedly be looking forward to his contributions as Bullets aim for more success on the field.
