Police at Chileka in Blantyre have confirmed that they have recovered the body of a man, in a decomposed state, whom they suspect to have drowned in Lirangwe River.

Chileka Police Station Public Relations Officer Jonathan Phillipo said the body was found on January,22,2025 at around 18:30hours in Msambuzi Village in Traditional Authority‘s area.

“A young boy, who was herding livestock along Lirangwe river banks found the dead body in a decomposition condition whilst some body parts were eaten by maggots and later informed the reporter, Amin Saidi who alerted Lunzu Police Unit,” Phillipo said.

Postmortem conducted by medical personnel from Makata Health Centre established that the death was due to suffocation secondary to drowning
