
Shadow Councilor Alfred Mayera in youth empowerment drive

Shadow Councilor for Naotcha and Ntonda ward in Blantyre South East constituency is championing vocational skills among the youth in the area.
Speaking in an interview, independent Shadow Alfred Mayera disclosed that a good number of youth have been already mainstreamed in various vocational education in a bid to reduce unemployment among the youth and empower them become economically stable.
“I have send some youth to technical schools with funding from well-wishers,” he said.
Mayera however, said that people in the area, are under compounded burdens which include poor road networks and lack of pipped and safe water ,saying the situation is escalating waterborne diseases such as cholera.
He therefore, implored people in Naotcha and Ntonda ward to work together in a bid to improve feeder roads to easy mobility challenges faced by people in the area.
The aspirant ward Councilor further elaborated that once elected into in power he will introduce youth and women business cooperatives in order to economically empower women, citing that there are more widows in the area that are looking after many children but they luck social amenities due to unstable income.
“My wish is also to support widows and child headed households with businesses. This initiative is imperative as it will help them to finding sources of income,” explained Mayera.
Samson kamwendo,a resident in Naotcha and Ntonda ward hailed the projects initiated by shadow Mayera, saying people in the area are ready to usher him into power in the forthcoming general elections to allow him continue development projects already initiated.
Malawi is expected to hold tripatite election this year on 16 September where citizens will choose the country’s President, Members of Parliament and ward Councilors.
