Police in Mchinji have instituted investigations to trace some suspected criminals identified as Sambulukani Mbewe and Emmanuel Phiri, from Kapezi Village, Sub Traditional Authority (T/A) Kapunula, who have been receiving motorcycles and other properties stolen from Zambia.
According to Mchinji Police Station Spokesperson Sergeant Limbani Mpinganjira, the investigations have been initiated, barely a week after police in the district arrested two suspects in connection to the offense in question, when Chipata/Zambia police lodged a complaint regarding increase in motorcycle robberies.
Mchinji police detectives organised an intelligence driven operation, raided the premises of the culprits who had already bolted and after a thorough search inside their houses two unregistered motorcycles and a 42 inch plasma television were recovered.
Meanwhile police investigations have been launched to arrest Sambulukani Mbewe and Emmanuel Phiri (full particulars not yet established) from Kapezi Village who are still at large.
Police in the district therefore urges communities along the Zambia/Malawi border to report against any suspicious activity and criminals to their nearest police.
