Police in Mzuzu have arrested Alfred Zyambo, 46, for the an alleged murder of Mike Mwakilama, a motorcycle operator at Enukweni Trading Centre in Mzimba district.

The suspect was arrested during the night of January 10, 2025.

It has been established that Mwakilama (now deceased) was a motorcycle operator at Enukweni Trading Centre and on January 9, 2025, he was hired from Emanyaleni by Zyambo and his accomplice, who is still at large.

He was found dead on January 10, 2025.

The issue was reported at Enukweni Police Unit and subsquently at Mzuzu Police station.

Following up on the incident, Mzuzu Police detectives conducted an investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the stolen, unregistered King Lion motorcycle in Rumphi.

Zyambo who will appear before court to answer charges of murder and robbery, comes from Chibisa Village, Traditional Authority Mthwalo in Mzimba district.
