The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC)  has arrested three security guards in Chililabombwe District for drug trafficking.

Public Realations Officer for DCE Allan Tamba, has identified the suspects  as Nelson Chanda (49), Phinoty Sianyenge (41), and Francis Mutale (32) were caught with 43.8 kilograms of cannabis while transporting money for a security company.

The trio, who had been on DEC’s watchlist, were intercepted while smuggling the contraband from an undisclosed foreign country into Kitwe.

Investigations revealed that they used a Toyota Hilux armored vehicle to transport both the illegal drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash meant for financial institutions.

Authorities have confiscated the cannabis, and the suspects remain in custody pending their court appearance.

DEC has reiterated its commitment to tackling financial and drug-related crimes, urging the public to report suspicious activities.
