Chikwawa Road Accident Claims Lives Of Three People

Three people who are yet being identified have died while seven others have sustained various degrees of injuries in a road accident in Chikwawa.

The accident occured in the wee hours of 8 March,2025 at Nkhwanga school along Blantyre-Nsanje M1 road .

According to sergeant Dickson Matemba, Chikwawa police station publicist,

the minibus registration number KK10204 which was being driven by Wilson Panagana 30, of Konzere Village Traditional Authority Ngabu in Chikwawa District was coming from the direction of Bangula towards Ngabu trading centre.

Upon arrival at Nkhwangwa School primary school,the minibus, due to excessive speed, hit a broken down lorry its registration number MH 2625 which was loaded with bricks.

Due to the impact, the three passengers were seriously injured and were rushed to Ngabu rural hospital where they died whilst receiving treatment, three others were seriously injured and they are still receiving treatment at the same facility whereby other four escaped with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Ngabu Traffic Police is calling on the relatives of the deceased to come to police for identification of bodies since they are being kept at Ngabu rural hospital morgue.

In the meantime, drivers have been urged to observe speed limits all the time when they are using the road to avoid similar accidents.
