Silver Strikers Football Club has demanded an apology from the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) over the treatment of their player, Binwell Katinji, after he was sent back from the national team camp.

The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Patrick Chimimba, described the incident as unfair and a form of mistreatment towards the player.

Katinji was reportedly called up by senior officials of the Malawi national team, the Flames, to join their preparations. However, after having dinner with the team last Saturday at their camp, he was informed by the coaching staff that he had no place in the squad for the upcoming match against Namibia on Thursday.

The incident has sparked widespread debate, with many questioning why Katinji was dropped despite his recent contributions to the Flames, particularly in the CHAN tournament, where he scored two goals in two matches.

Silver Strikers insist that FAM owes Katinji an apology for the way he was handled.
