Rapper Tay-K, born Taymor McIntyre, has been sentenced to 80 years in prison for the 2017 murder of photographer Mark Anthony Saldivar in Texas.
The shooting occurred during a robbery when Tay-K, then 16, stole Saldivar’s camera equipment. A jury in Bexar County found him guilty of murder, though he had initially faced a capital murder charge.
The judge, Stephanie Boyd, emphasized the seriousness of the crime while encouraging Tay-K to reflect and change. Tay-K’s legal team argued the case was flawed and based on unreliable witness testimony.
He is currently incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system. Previously, he received a 55-year sentence for his role in the 2016 killing of Ethan Walker.
