The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has announced its decision not to contest the upcoming September 16 election independently, signaling a strategic shift toward coalition politics.
According to Party Secretary General Peter Mukhitho, the DPP aims to align itself with the aspirations of Malawians by leading a united front.
He added that the identity of the alliance leader will be revealed once ongoing negotiations with other political parties are concluded.
Meanwhile political analyst Victor Chipofya has described the DPP’s move as a wise decision, emphasizing that no single party is likely to win the election on its own.
Chipofya believes the decision reflects the party’s understanding of the current political landscape and the importance of collaboration.
DPP plans to form alliance reveals that the party is positioning itself as a leadership willing to listen to the people and build a united front.
