Dr. Usi to register a new political party

Dr. Usi, who was once selected as United Transformation Movement (UTM)running mate by the late Dr. Saulos Chilima in the 2019 elections, was later appointed as the country’s Vice President by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera following Chilima’s death on June 10, 2024. Dr. usi was expelled from UTM for allegedly going against its principles and failing to consult the party leadership.
According to the party’s Secretary General, Happy Kondowe, further details about the party’s direction and whether it will contest alone or form alliances in the upcoming September elections will be revealed by Dr. Usi himself.
The official registration on Sunday is expected to provide more insight into the party’s agenda and its potential impact on Malawi’s political future.
