Nine people have died and 26 others have been injured in 25 road accidents that occurred during the Easter holiday.

Deputy National Police Spokesperson Harry Namwaza said most of the accidents happened at night, largely due to drink driving and speeding, among other factors.

However, Namwaza noted that the number of accidents this year has decreased from the 30 recorded during the same period last year.

This year’s Easter was celebrated from Friday, 18 April to Monday, 21 April by Christians around the world
