Moyale Barracks Football Club is mourning the sudden death of their first-choice goalkeeper, Simeon Harawa, who passed away in Mzuzu on Monday.
According to Mike Zgambo, the club’s Media and Communications Officer, Harawa collapsed just a few hours earlier after returning from a routine morning jog. He was rushed to Mzuzu Central Hospital, where medical staff confirmed he had died upon arrival.
“He just collapsed,” Zgambo said. “At this point, we do not yet have full details on what caused his death.”
Harawa had played for Moyale Barracks in a TNM Super League match on Saturday, which ended in a 1-1 draw against Civo Service United. His sudden passing has left teammates, fans, and the broader football community in shock.
Adding to the club’s grief, Moyale is also mourning the loss of their top fan, Alex Alexi, who was reportedly killed by unknown thugs at his home on Sunday evening.
Funeral arrangements and further investigations into Harawa’s death are yet to be communicated.
