Man Sentenced To 5 years and 6 Months For Theft In Mulanje

The Magistrate Court in Mulanje has sentenced a 23-year-old man, George Majawa, to five years and six months in prison after he was found guilty of theft.
According to Mulanje Police spokesperson, Sergeant Innocent Moses, the court heard from Constable Jane Mwale that Majawa committed the crime last month in Nsema Village.
On the day of the incident, Majawa stole a Tecno phone worth K280,000 and K100 in cash from a woman.
When he appeared before the court, Majawa denied the charges. However, the state brought forward three witnesses, whose testimonies helped the court find him guilty.
Senior Resident Magistrate Gloria Mwatiwamba then sentenced Majawa to serve five years and six months in prison.
