Hit-and-Run Claims Life in Blantyre, Police Seek Public Assistance for Identification

Blantyre Police are appealing to the public to help identify a male pedestrian who died in a hit-and-run accident that occurred along Magalasi Road near PVHO on the evening of May 5, 2025.

According to Deputy Public Relations Officer for Blantyre Police Station, Constable Mary Mwai Chiponda, the incident happened around 7:00 PM when the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road. He was struck by an unknown vehicle that was traveling from HHI Roundabout towards Clocktower Roundabout.

The victim sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, where his body is currently being kept pending identification.

Police describe the deceased as tall, slim, and fair in complexion. At the time of the accident, he was wearing black trousers, a pink long-sleeved shirt, a yellow short-sleeved t-shirt underneath, and grey sports shoes.

Authorities are urging anyone who may be missing a relative or friend fitting the description to visit Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for identification.

Investigations into the hit-and-run are ongoing.
