Police in Mulanje have arrested a man identified as Grivin Kanyoza for allegedly giving false information to police and using someone else’s MSCE Form 4 certificate without permission.

According to Mulanje Police spokesperson Innocent Moses, Kanyoza went to the Mulanje Police Station on April 1, 2025, to report that his 2015 MSCE certificate, obtained from Likangala Secondary School, had been lost.

“He gave police the name Harrison Mugonya, 38, from Kadewere Village, Traditional Authority Nkanda in Mulanje District, and claimed to be working for the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC). As a result, the police provided him with a loss report to help trace the certificate,” said Moses.

However, on May 5, 2025, Limbe Police informed their Mulanje counterparts that they had arrested Kanyoza after discovering he had used the false police report to claim the certificate from MANEB a document which had been reported as stolen by its rightful owner.

Moses confirmed that Kanyoza will appear in court soon to answer charges of giving false information to the police.
