Malawi Launches Advanced Border Security System

Malawi has launched the Malawi Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS), a system which will help to manage countries movement across the boarders.

MIDAS has been introduced by the department of immigration in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the support from World bank of Malawi in order to strengthen  boarder security and monitor travelers as they enter or exit the country.

“This system its not just about security but also it will help Malawians to manage migration and also accountability and transparency of  activities happening in boarders.” Said Nomagugu Ncube, IOM Malawi Chief of Mission.

Minister of Homeland Security Ezekiel Ching’oma highlighted the impact of the system citing that it will help Malawi address the challenges that their boarders face during their work.

The world Bank of Malawi has also made a donation of two vehicles to support the development.
