
Blantyre Police Arrest Man for Alleged Car Theft Scam Involving 22 Vehicles

Police in Blantyre have arrested a 32 year-old man in connection with the suspected theft of 22 vehicles believed to have be stolen through fraudulent means.
Spokesperson for South West Region Police, Beatrice Mikuwa, has confirmed the arrest and identified the suspect as Mustafa Charles.
According to Mikuwa, the suspect reportedly borrowed vehicles from a company and seven individuals, then used them as collateral to secure loans ranging from MK4 million to MK14 million without the owners’ knowledge.
The case came to light after Success Civil and Automobile Company reported 17 missing vehicles to police after Charles failed to return them.
Following the complaint, police launched an operation that led to the arrest of Charles and the recovery of the vehicles in question.
The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to fraud and theft by trick.
