Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Lover of His Wife in Bangwe

Police in Limbe are keeping in custody a 35-year-old man, Joseph Mpondaminga, for allegedly murdering a 37-year-old man, Young Bwanali, at Monjereriwa Village in Bangwe Township, Blantyre.

According to Limbe Police Public Relations Officer, Aubrey Singanyama, the incident occurred on the evening of May 20, 2025, at around 7:00 PM.

Reports indicate that the deceased, Bwanali, was seen in the area with Mpondaminga’s wife, and the two were suspected of having a secret romantic relationship.

Upon learning of the alleged affair, Mpondaminga is said to have confronted the pair, leading to a fierce altercation. During the confrontation, Mpondaminga allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Bwanali on the left side of the neck. Bwanali died on the spot.

Police detectives from Bangwe rushed to the scene following the incident, arrested Mpondaminga, and transported the victim’s body to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for a postmortem.

Joseph Mpondaminga, who hails from Chirambe Village in the area of Traditional Authority Machinjiri in Blantyre District, is expected to appear in court soon to answer a charge of murder.
